About SFCMT
Stortford Fields Community Management Trust (SFCMT) was established in July 2023 to own, manage and protect community buildings and spaces for the benefit of residents and the wider community. It’s owned and led by the community, responding to local needs, to shape the future at Stortford Fields. The Trust received charity status in September 2025.
For the Community, By the Community
Community trusts are independent charitable organisations which aim to respond to local needs, and are intended to bring about social, economic and environmental benefits to the local community.
Trust Principles:
- Community-led organisations
- Work in partnership on an enterprise approach for social benefits
- Own land, buildings and other assets
- Registered charities
- All profits reinvested for the community
What we do
SFCMT has four main aims:
01.
To provide and maintain accessible open spaces
02.
Promote the conservation, protection, management, maintenance, and improvement of the physical and natural environment
03.
Provide, manage, and maintain facilities for education, recreation, mental and physical health, wellbeing, and leisure
04.
Promote and advance community development and citizenship
What we look after
Community Facilities
We will own buildings, spaces and land – as the development grows, community assets are transferred to the Trust.
Revenue
Revenue is generated to ensure these facilities run now and into the future. Profits are reinvested to strengthen the community and support what it needs.
Partnerships
We will work in partnership with local organisations and the wider community to deliver what you want to see.
Activities and Events
You’ll let us know what functions, events and activities you’d like in these spaces.
We will also support the community with placemaking such as organising community events, community development work, community cohesion, arts and culture and work and skills.
How is Trust funded?
- Section 106 planning agreement payments from the four Stortford Fields Consortium developers (BSNC)
- Hire or letting income from community facilities e.g. Community Hall, Pavilion, sports pitch, allotments
- Any other grants, interest or in-kind support as a result of its future charity status
