Our places and spaces
Stortford Fields Community Management Trust (SFCMT) was established in July 2023 to own, manage and protect community buildings and spaces for the benefit of residents and the wider community. It’s owned and led by the community, responding to local needs, to shape the future at Stortford Fields. The Trust will be applying for charity status.
What we do
We have four main aims:
01
To provide and maintain accessible open spaces
02
Promote the conservation, protection, management, maintenance and improvement of the physical and natural environment
03
Provide, manage and maintain facilities for education, recreation, mental and physical health, well-being and leisure
04
Promotion and advancement of community development and citizenship
What we look after
- We will own buildings, spaces and land – as the development grows, community assets are transferred to the Trust.
- Revenue is generated to ensure these facilities run now and into the future.
- Profits are reinvested to strengthen the community and support what it needs.
- We will work in partnership with local organisations and the wider community to deliver what you want to see.
- You’ll let us know what functions, events and activities you’d like in these spaces.
We will also support the community with placemaking such as organising community events, community development work, community cohesion, arts and culture and work and skills.
Here’s an indicative plan and definitely not to scale image of what we will eventually own and manage.
How is it funded?
- Section 106 planning agreement payments from the four Stortford Fields Consortium developers (BSNC)
- Hire or letting income from community facilities e.g. Community Hall, Pavilion, sports pitches, allotments
- Any other grants, interest or in-kind support as a result of its future charity status
